All-Season and Glamping Tents: RBM and Coody Comparison Guide

RBM double-layer frame tents and Coody inflatable tents solve different camping problems. RBM models emphasize cold-weather protection, a fast umbrella or hub setup, and a built-in stove system. Coody models emphasize large living areas, breathable TC fabric, inflatable frames, and model-specific room and floor layouts.

RBM double-layer frame tents

The UP, Hexagon, and Cuboid families use an outer tent and a separate inner tent with an insulating air gap. The double-wall structure and adjustable ventilation help manage condensation; they do not eliminate it. The approved operating range is from -50 °C to +45 °C (-58 °F to 113 °F), which is an equipment range rather than a guarantee of personal comfort.

Outer fabric is Oxford 300 PU4000. UP tents use Oxford 210 PU2000 inner fabric, while Hexagon and Cuboid 4.40 use Oxford 240 PU2000 inner fabric. Frame construction uses B95T1 aviation-grade aluminum alloy. UP models use 10 mm (0.39") rods; Hexagon and Cuboid include model-specific 10 mm and 12 mm frame members.

UP-2 and UP-5

UP-2 provides 7.7 m² (82.88 ft²) of floor area, sets up in approximately 3 minutes, and accommodates up to four people without a stove or up to three with one. UP-5 provides 13.1 m² (141.01 ft²), also sets up in approximately 3 minutes, and accommodates up to six people without a stove or up to five with one. Both use a 90 mm (3.54") stove jack and a removable Oxford floor.

Cuboid 4.40 and Hexagon

Cuboid 4.40 provides 9.46 m² (101.82 ft²), sets up in approximately 5 minutes, and accommodates up to six people without a stove or up to five with one. Hexagon provides 12.6 m² (135.63 ft²), sets up in approximately 5 minutes, and accommodates up to nine people without a stove or up to six with one. Both use a 90 mm (3.54") stove jack and removable Oxford floor.

Coody inflatable TC tents

Coody inflatable tents use 210 gsm TC fabric composed of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. PVC air tubes are operated at 6-8 psi. The tent body is rated PU2000+, the 420D Oxford rainfly is rated PU3000+, wind resistance is tested up to 72 km/h (45 mph), and UV protection is UPF 50+. These are tested specifications, not guarantees for every storm.

The approved operating range is from -10 °C to +40 °C (14 °F to 104 °F). After use below 0 °C (32 °F), the tent must be dried completely in a warm, dry indoor space before storage. Floors, stove jacks, doors, windows, and included panels vary by model.

How to choose between the two structures

• Choose an RBM double-layer frame model when extreme-cold operating range, fast mechanical setup, and a built-in two-wall system are priorities.
• Choose a Coody inflatable model when large living space, breathable TC fabric, and an air-frame layout are priorities.
• Compare packed weight and box dimensions before purchase; neither family is designed as lightweight backpacking equipment.
• Check exact stove-jack and floor construction for the selected model rather than assuming every tent uses the same design.

Wood-stove safety

Use a wood stove only in a compatible tent and follow both manuals. Maintain continuous ventilation, use smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, install the fire-resistant mat and spark arrestor, keep the exit clear, and never leave an operating stove unattended. Temperature ratings do not replace an appropriate sleeping bag and insulated pad.
