The RBM Outdoors UP-2 is a 4-season double-layer hot tent crafted for winter expeditions, hunting basecamps, ice fishing trips, and group cold-weather outings. Striking the ideal balance between compact portability and spacious comfort, this mid-sized shelter features a true tent-within-a-tent construction. The protective outer shell and breathable inner wall are separated by a thermal air buffer that mitigates freezing temperatures in winter, regulates moisture and condensation during rainstorms, and prevents internal overheating under the summer sun.

Built with a fast-deploying umbrella-style frame, the UP-2 can be fully pitched in under three minutes – giving small groups instant protection when harsh mountain weather hits. Its 7.7 m² (82.9 ft²) footprint provides comfortable living quarters for up to 4 people using sleeping bags, or 2 to 3 campers equipped with a wood stove and cots. Occupying the sweet spot between the ultra-compact UP-2 Mini and the larger UP-5, it offers full standing height (1.9 m) for easy movement without adding unnecessary weight to your haul. The structure is reinforced by heavy-duty B95T1 aviation-grade aluminum alloy rods engineered to withstand gale-force winds and rugged terrain.

As a true stove jack hot tent, it comes fully prepared for wood stove installation, allowing you to create a warm, dry refuge for cooking meals and drying heavy winter gear in late autumn, sub-zero winters, and early spring. The interior is designed for long hours off the grid, featuring a patented wing door for quick hands-free entry, two 5-layer weather-adjustable windows, a detachable Oxford floor, built-in storage pockets, and a ceiling gear loft. For extreme ice angling or deep-freeze basecamps, the shelter can be upgraded with a specialized three-layer insulated floor with ice fishing hatch openings (sold separately).

UP-2 is a spacious and cozy tent, which is perfect for camping with your family. So, if you are planning a family camping trip, then UP-2 is definitely the right choice for you.

UP-2 is equipped with five-layer windows, which can be used for additional ventilation. However, if you want to make sure that the tent is thoroughly ventilated, you can always check out our camping fan. It is a great accessory that will help you maintain even temperatures inside the tent.

UP-2 is a great choice if you travel by car. However, if you want to install it in a more remote area, you’d need an ATV or snowmobile.

Precautions and recommendations

When assembling and reassembling the tent, be careful with the frame to avoid injuries.

Check tent layers before setup. The outer and inner layers may stick together during storage. Before setup, unfold the tent and separate the fabric so the layers slide freely. This ensures smooth assembly.

Choose a stable, level campsite. Do not set up the tent near dead trees, loose branches, power lines, steep slopes, or areas where water may collect.

Securely fasten the tent using all required pegs and guy lines.

In windy weather, do not set up the tent near trees. Do not set up or use the tent in sustained winds or gusts over 38 mph.

Provide continuous ventilation inside the tent, especially when using a wood stove.

Use a compatible wood stove only with the integrated stove jack and according to the stove manufacturer’s safety instructions. Stove sold separately.

Keep the stove, stove pipe, hot surfaces, and sparks away from tent fabric, gear, and bedding. Do not leave a burning stove unattended.

Ensure an unimpeded exit from the tent at all times.

It is forbidden to use gas, gas equipment, grills, or liquid fuel devices inside the tent.

The use of open flame sources outside of an approved compatible stove setup is prohibited inside the tent.

Remove snow buildup from the roof during winter use.

Dry the tent completely before storage.

Do not allow children to use the tent without adult supervision.
